Duration

13 months

Scope

Implementation, migration, cloud hosting, support

The Client

A major UK-headquartered building materials group operating across multiple business units in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. The organization manages a large, geographically distributed estate of operational assets across quarrying, cement, asphalt, and ready-mixed concrete operations.

The Challenge

The client needed to consolidate enterprise asset management across its business units onto a unified IBM Maximo platform. This involved migrating one division from SAP to Maximo, upgrading and transitioning an existing Maximo environment from on-premises to cloud, and establishing a consistent operating model across all sites.

Key challenges included executing change at pace while protecting operational continuity, managing dependencies on legacy systems and third-party integrations, data readiness and reconciliation across disparate sources, and driving adoption across geographically distributed teams.

What MaxIron Delivered

MaxIron delivered the program using a governed, multi-workstream approach: mobilization and discovery, target process and solution design, build and configuration, data migration and validation, SIT/UAT, cutover, hypercare, and transition to BAU.

  • SAP-to-Maximo migration (UK): large-scale migration delivered within eight months from mobilization to go-live, including financial and ERP integration
  • Accelerated cloud transition (Ireland): upgrade and cloud migration delivered in under three months, executed in parallel across infrastructure, application, and data workstreams
  • Unified EAM platform: core asset management and maintenance management capabilities established across all business units, including asset repository, work management, and appropriate controls for high-criticality operational assets
  • Cloud operating model: transition to a fully managed cloud environment with support tooling, incident management, and release management controls

Outcomes

  • Improved control and visibility of assets and maintenance activities through a unified platform
  • Standardized asset and work management practices across all business units
  • Cloud operating model that reduced infrastructure burden and improved responsiveness
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver production outcomes within compressed timescales

Long-Term Support

The engagement included transition into a BAU support model with service governance, incident and problem management, change control, release planning, and knowledge transfer. MaxIron provided operational stabilisation post go-live and embedded customer empowerment through role-based enablement, documented ways-of-working, and ongoing support and improvement cycles.
