MaxIron Data Governance

Controlled master-data change for IBM Maximo Manage

Give each asset, location or item change a named owner. Approvers review the exact proposed values before a checked Maximo update. This live product is configured and qualified against the customer environment.

Choose by need

Choose the control that matches the work

Bulk operations, formal master-data approval and software promotion are separate jobs.

Query or change Maximo records in bulk

Data Loader

Prepare, validate, run and review row-level outcomes.

Approve formal master-data changes

Data Governance

Use maker-checker, a frozen revision and a stale record check.

Approve software or configuration promotion

Change Control

Record the decision before a tested change moves to production.

Product capabilities

Review proposed values before they reach Maximo.

Guided Maximo forms and controlled workbooks follow the same governed request.

Prepare a request with a named owner
A data steward uses guided Maximo forms or controlled workbooks to propose individual or bulk changes. Current, before and proposed values remain visible while live Maximo data stays unchanged.
Approve the values that will be applied
Policy-driven approval routes the request to the configured approvers. Submission freezes the revision and its hash. Maker-checker prevents the requestor or a payload editor from approving it.
Apply and confirm the outcome
A stale record check stops an approved proposal from overwriting newer data. Supported Maximo services apply the accepted revision, then reconciliation records the confirmed values and evidence.

Who uses it: data stewards prepare requests, asset and location owners review proposed values, approvers sign the frozen revision, and audit teams retrieve the evidence.

Conceptual illustration

Keep changes accountable as asset information evolves.

An asset, location or item update can affect work well beyond the person making it. Data Governance gives your team a controlled request, an exact revision to approve and evidence of the checked update. Reviewers can see what is changing, who authorised it and what happened in Maximo.

Customer value

Approvers see the exact values they are signing.

The approval view keeps the business reason, before and proposed values, validation, revision hash and earlier decisions together. A material amendment creates a new revision and repeats the required review.

Qualification case

One governed asset amendment

Qualification uses one controlled field to test whether the proposal, approval and final Maximo value remain part of the same evidence chain.

This is a qualification demonstration against representative work, not a named customer result. Anonymised customer engagements and reference conversations under NDA sit in the case studies.

What we walk through

  • Prepare the before and proposed values in one owned request.
  • Validate the request and route its frozen revision to a separate approver.
  • Check for a stale source record before applying the accepted revision in test.

Pass condition

Pass when the confirmed Maximo value, proposal, decision and execution record remain together, and a stale source record stops the write.

Evidence retained: Revision hash, validation, approval identity, execution result and target-level reconciliation.

Boundary that remains: The product stays within qualified data packs, approved write paths and customer-configured governance.

Buying information

How Data Governance is sold and introduced

The live product is configured through qualification of the target environment, initial data scope and governance controls. We review one request with its named owner against your approval policy before agreeing the engagement.

Defined scope

Product boundaries

The product stays within qualified data packs, approved write paths and customer-configured governance.

Qualified data packs define scope

The product does not expose arbitrary Maximo objects. Each supported data type requires a qualified pack covering fields, rules, dependencies, execution behaviour and tested limits.

Customer controls require validation

Enabled packs, sites, governed fields, risk rules, approver groups, signatures and retention are agreed and validated for the customer environment.

Completed writes are not reversed automatically

A concurrency conflict stops execution for review. Corrective work after a completed write follows a separate governed request.

Questions buyers ask

What is the status of Data Governance?

It is a live MaxIron product delivered through a product engagement. Each data pack and customer deployment is qualified and validated against the target Maximo environment.

How is this different from Data Loader?

Data Loader handles operational bulk query, create, update, sync and delete work. Data Governance controls formal master-data change through staged values, a frozen hashed revision, maker-checker, stale record protection and retained evidence.

Does approval apply to a moving draft?

No. Submission freezes the exact revision and records its hash. A later material amendment creates another revision and repeats the required validation and approval route.
