Licensing

MAS AppPoints, BYOL and reseller, sized to what you'll actually use

Most MAS licensing conversations start with a sticker price. Ours starts with your user mix, the modules you actually need, and how the platform will grow. As an IBM Gold Partner we can resell, support BYOL, or simply advise.

Conceptual visualisation of MAS AppPoints allocation across modules and user roles

MaxIron is an IBM Gold Partner and IBM Partner Plus member. We can transact IBM Maximo Application Suite licences, advise on BYOL arrangements, or simply help you size your AppPoints correctly.

What we help with

  • AppPoints sizing across Manage, Mobile, Health, Monitor, Predict, Visual Inspection and Scheduler
  • User mix modelling: full users, limited users, mobile users, casual users
  • BYOL versus reseller commercial comparison
  • MAS reseller transactions where MaxIron is the commercial counterparty
  • Renewal and term negotiation support, with realistic growth assumptions
  • Migration of existing Maximo 7.6 licences into MAS

Where this fits with the rest of the programme

Licensing is rarely the right place to start a Maximo conversation, but it is almost always one of the things that gets in the way of progress. We typically size AppPoints alongside an upgrade scope, a new implementation, or a managed hosting arrangement so the commercial picture matches the actual deployment plan.

If you are still on classic Maximo and not ready to move, see Maximo 7.6 Extended Support for a clean way to stay supported and audited while you plan.

Frequently asked questions

What are AppPoints in IBM MAS?
AppPoints are the entitlement currency for the IBM Maximo Application Suite. Different MAS modules (Manage, Mobile, Health, Monitor, Predict, Visual Inspection, Scheduler) consume AppPoints at different rates, and user roles consume different amounts. AppPoints are pooled at the suite level, so right-sizing depends on your actual user mix and module footprint, not a sticker price.
BYOL or buy through a reseller?
Both are valid. BYOL works well when you already have an enterprise IBM relationship and predictable consumption. Buying through a partner makes sense when you want a single commercial relationship covering licences, implementation and managed services. As an IBM Gold Partner, MaxIron can support either path and will recommend the one that fits your case.
Can MaxIron resell IBM MAS?
Yes. MaxIron is an IBM Gold Partner and IBM Partner Plus member, and can transact MAS licences as part of an implementation, upgrade or managed services arrangement. AppPoints are sized to your actual user mix and module footprint, with headroom matched to the contract term.
How do you right-size AppPoints?
We model your real user mix (full users, limited users, mobile users), the modules you actually need, and your growth profile over the term. We then propose an AppPoints baseline with headroom that matches the contract length, rather than the maximum you might ever consume.
What about Maximo 7.6 licences?
If you are still on Maximo 7.6 we will help you assess whether to renew on 7.6 (with our Extended Support track), move to MAS, or run both in parallel during a phased migration. Each option has different licence implications and we will quote them transparently.

Pay for the MAS you actually need

Tell us your user mix, the modules you are considering, and the term you are negotiating. We will model AppPoints against your real user mix and tell you whether BYOL or buying through a partner makes better commercial sense.
